As the January transfer window closed on Tuesday night, Jim McIntyre was a very happy man after successfully bringing two new players - Jordan McMillan and Kyle Hutton - into his squad.

"I have tried to get both players before. Jordan McMillan, I have chased a couple of times and not been successful. I was quite surprised when I found out that Rangers were willing to do a deal. The fact that it is a permanent deal is fantastic.

"He is player who is versatile; he can play in the middle of the park or equally he is comfortable at full back. He has real tenacity, he is strong in the tackle. He is quick, really really quick. He is a great option for us and both players are desperate to get a run of games; they want game time under their belt and show what they can do.

"Jordan is good on the ball but he has excellent pace and is aggressive in the tackle." The 23 year old has been involved with the first team squad at Ibrox in recent times and played against both Motherwell and Arbroath earlier this year. The Manager confirmed that there was no fee involved but a sell on clause had been included in the deal with Rangers.

Rangers have also agreed to loan out Kyle Hutton, a midfielder who has recently signed an extension to his Rangers contract. Macca paid tribute to the Dunfermline Athletic Board who were quick to react when the news of the players' availability became known.

Capped at both U19 and U21 level Hutton has played 14 times for Rangers and the Manager described the 20 year old as powerful and expanded:-

"Kyle has got vision, a good passer of the ball and at six foot he gives us a bit of presence."

Hutton made his professional d?but for Rangers in the opening SPL match of the 2010 -11 season and went on to make his first start in the Co-operative Insurance Cup against the Pars on 21 September 2010. Hutton was loaned to Partick Thistle earlier this season and made 12 appearances for the Jags..

To balance the books Jim McIntyre had to allow John Potter to go out on loan to Queen of the South for the rest of the season. He added:-

"I just felt that with the signing of Jordan McMillan that we could allow John to move on. I would like to stress just what a fantastic professional John Potter is and I wish him every success at Queens."

The earlier additions of Iain Turner from Preston North End and Mark Kerr from Greek side Asteras Tripolis have lifted the squad's morale as they head into a tough time in the SPL season. Jim McIntyre was in no doubt that signing a couple of players boosts the dressing room:-

"Sometimes fresh faces can give everyone a lift."

The new players will meet up with their new team mates on Thursday when training resumes and there will be a bounce game against Dundee on Friday. The players will be in on Sunday and Monday ahead of the next match, Kilmarnock on Tuesday night, kick off 7.45pm.
