Young midfielder signs on at East End Park

Dunfermline Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of 20 year old Chris Hamilton, bringing him to the Club on a long term deal.

The young midfielder is no stranger to East End Park having started his footballing journey with the Pars Foundation at their Mini Kickers classes at the age of 4. Youth football with Crossgates resulted in a move to Hearts in 2009, making his way to a first team debut in May 2018 away to Kilmarnock. Experience has also been gained with loan moves to Berwick Rangers, Cowdenbeath, Dumbarton, Stirling Albion and latterly a hugely successful season with Arbroath. Chris played 28 times in the Championship last season picking up the Arbroath supporters Young Player of the Year award.

Chris has also been capped by Scotland at U16, U17, U18, U19 and U21 age groups as well as captaining the Scotland under-16 Victory Shield squad.

Manager James McPake commented: “He’s a player I’ve been aware of for a while. In particular, he had a fantastic season at Arbroath last year. For a 20 year old, he’s played a lot of first team football and has a lot of potential to develop even further. He’s also a huge Dunfermline fan and I feel that’s important, having local players who get what the club is all about in the squad. I’m really looking forward to working with him.”

Chris added, "I`m delighted to join Dunfermline Athletic Football Club! My earliest footballing memories actually started with the Pars, training with the Pars Foundation as part of their pre school Mini Kickers programme. It almost feels like a full circle coming back to the club I supported as a child. To say i`m buzzing is an understatement, My family are still massive Pars fans and I can’t wait to pull on the black and white stripes, get changed in the home dressing room and walk out that tunnel onto the pitch this coming season.

Chris, who is currently on holiday, will meet the rest of the squad next week as pre-season kicks off and we will sit down with him for a full interview along with all the behind the scenes action as the season approaches.
