Higgy suggests striking solution

Kallum Higginbotham says that he would love Stevie Crawford to be able to make a come back and show the current Dunfermline side how to find the net. Describing his feelings as at the lowest point of his footballing career, Kallum said:-

“Training has been absolutely brilliant with Stevie and Greg but it doesn’t matter who the manager is, if we are not putting the ball in the net then he can only put eleven out on the pitch. I’d love him to put his boots on and put a few in the back of the net for us.”

The Cup tie reversal at Raith on Saturday made in it two defeats in the first two matches under the new management team but Kallum was totally supportive of the new regime adding:-

“We have to pull together. We have great quality in the dressing room but how many times have I said that? I know what we do on the training pitch every single day but at the minute we are not transforming that on to a Saturday.

“You can see that we are not creating nowhere near enough. I take full responsibility for that as well. It is a massive part of my game creating chances for strikers.

“I have just not been good enough but no blame on any one individual it is a collective unit and we are just miles off it. We need to go in on Monday and try to pick up points in the league to get into the play offs.”

Speaking after the Cup tie, Kallum said:-

“The way that I am feeling at the minute is by far the lowest point in my career. It is never nice losing a derby and in the manner that we did in the second half. Everybody is devastated in the dressing room so a disappointing day.

“If Myles (Hippolyte) has scored from that chance in the first half it would have been a completely different game. I thought we started the second half really brightly, there were a few half chances, we were on the front foot and were taking the game to them.

“The fans that turned out were magnificent but the sending off killed us. Ashy knows that, it is not to pin the blame on him, we should have pulled together as a team and got him out of the mess.

“We go one goal down with a soft penalty I believe. Then we had to push to try and get back into the game. They caught us on the break for the second and when that went in it was pretty much game over.

“It is disappointing but we have to take our chances when we are on top. On another day you could give Myles a hundred chances like that and he would put ninety nine away.

“It is just how our luck is going at the minute. Take nothing away from Raith I think they were brilliant when they sniffed the opportunity after the sending off. They took it with both hands and deserved to win.”
