Jason Dair a welcome addition

15/06/19: Stevie Crawford discusses the arrival of Jason Dair as First Team Coach.

Happy Birthday Jason Dair - 45 today!

The Pars management team were delighted to welcome a new team member this week when Jason Dair left Dundonald Bluebell to become First Team Coach at East End Park. Stevie Crawford paid tribute to Jason’s decision to leave the managerial position at a club that has just been granted full Scottish Football Association membership and will compete in the William Hill Scottish Cup next season.

“My relationship with Jason goes back to both of us at 14 years old playing at Oakley, and from that day we’ve got on well, in terms of how we speak about football.

“I was fortunate enough to play in teams when Jason played and he was very clever in getting the ball to me as a striker, or any striker he played with.

“The one thing that he’s done is put his neck on the line, because he’s come away from a good management job that he’s worked away at for eight years now. I think that says a lot about him and the decision he’s made.

“It shows his commitment level, the faith he has in his own ability and his knowledge of football but he also knows the drive of myself, Greg and everybody connected to the club. He spoke to Ross (McArthur) as well about coming in and we were very transparent about in where we see the club going.

“Yes, he’s a mate, but he’s not in here solely because he’s a mate. He’s the type of person who I felt was right to work with the players and pass on his experience.

“He knows what it’s like being a young player coming through and trying to get better and trying to add the ingredients needed to progress your career.

“Jason is a thinker, his tactical awareness is very good and he is level headed, not a knee jerk reaction man. He will have the best interests of the club at heart as well.

“He’s got a good manner about him and he very much wants to help players progress and kick on in their careers, and I think he will be a welcome addition working alongside myself and Greg.

“We get on well with him, but we trust his football knowledge and we think he’s got somethig he can bring to Dunfermline Football Club.”
