JIM JEFFERIES CVA RESULT

Jim Jefferies gave his reaction to the news of the approval of the CVA proposal. He had received a message from Pars United's Craig McWhirter conveying the good news from the administrators meeting at lunchtime:-

"It is just fantastic news for everybody; there were cars passing with their horns tooting and everybody delighted. The fans have been fantastic and now the ones who have been sitting there waiting - quite rightly to see what happens - because it might have been a waste of money.

"The balance has got to be right between getting enough money in to try and save it while there are people out there who cannot afford to do it for nothing if it goes bust.  That is not the case now and hopefully some people who have been sitting out there to see the outcome can now pledge their monery whether it is through season ticket sales or investment to take the club forward.

"All we can promise them and  I am sure that the new people will be the same - it will not be like the past, trying to chase the dream.  Sometimes that can be a good thing, sometimes it can eventually catch up with you. I think it did over the last year.

"So the decision that was taken last year to go with a young team proved very successful. Successful in terms of finances of a very small squad and successful for the fans because they have enjoyed coming along and seeing all these young kids play for the jersey because they are certainly not out there playing for fortunes or money that the club can't afford.

"Now a prudent business plan is in force and will be kept there so that this club doesn't fall into the same troubles as they have had in the past.  If we are able to go out and strengthen it a little bit more, it will be for a young player that will give us good value and also have the potential to maybe move on again.

"That is part and parcel of football now, trying to do what Falkirk have done for example over the last couple of seasons. Some of the youngsters like Arfield and other younger players have gone on to the English Championship and brought the club in some very good money.

"They have had to sacrifice being in the Premier League to do that, so it is not always about getting to the top. We want to get to the top, Falkirk will want to get into the Premier League and so will we. That's the nature of the game, it might take us a few years but it will be done without getting ourselves into trouble to do it. That will be the message coming across from the new owners."
