Keddie remains confident

Sunday, 12th Feb 2012

"I don't know how many I have had cleared off the line this season but if that had gone in it would have been 3-2.

Alex Keddie v Rangers

Alex Keddie explained that his team mates wanted to give a good account of themselves against Rangers even though nobody really expected them to win.

"When you get to half time even 2-1 down against the Old Firm, you think you have a chance. Unfortunately we didn't get to half time one up or even 1-1. They had two good chances to score and that's what happens when you are playing against good teams."

Jim McIntyre was aggrieved with referee Brian Winter's decision to award Rangers the 39th minute free kick that led to the second Rangers goal. Alex felt that whether it was warranted or not, the free kick should have been better defended:-

"We didn't defend it in the right manner." The goalscorer was Lee McCulloch and his marker was well aware of what he was up against:-

Lee McCulloch scores for Rangers against Dunfermline

"He is a Scottish internationalist, he plays for Rangers and is a fantastic player whether he plays up front, wide left or wherever he happens to play. I enjoy playing against him. No doubt if he gets more games he will get fitter and do Rangers a good turn up front."

In 72 minutes Alex had a powerful header cleared off the line at the left goalpost by Sone Aluko:-

"They are getting closer; I don't know how many I have had cleared off the line this season but if that had gone in it would have been 3-2. But they up the field and scored a fourth but that is just the kind of luck that we are carrying at the moment."

The 31 year old defender who joined from Ross County in the summer of 2010 feels confident that his current team can avoid being replaced in the SPL by his former club:-

"We have attacking players and we seem to be doing better going forward at the moment apart from against Rangers. I didn't think it was a 4-1 game; that was the final score but we will take confidence from the performance."

Hibs drew 0-0 at home to Aberdeen some they move one point ahead of Dunfermline but Alex feels that the relegation battle will go all the way to the end of the season:-

"Every season it seems to go that way and I don't think it will be just us and Hibs. It is a hard league and you need to pick up points at every opportunity, hopefully we can pick up more than we have lately."
