Pars keeper’s interview with media

Dunfermline Athletic keeper Lee Robinson spoke to the media after the 2-0 defeat to Partick Thistle. It was a disappointing afternoon for him:-

“The way they have been playing and like how we played last week, we were confident coming into it but the first twenty minutes killed us really. They have got a bit of confidence from the goal. But even then we have had a few chances so disappointed.”

Second goal, was there any worry about that crossing the line?

“It never crossed the line. The linesman was forty yards away and I don’t know how he made a decision. I think if you don’t know, you don’t give it. Why would you give it if you are not sure? It definitely wasn’t over.”

Were you offered any explanation?

“No, they don’t do they. Kevin (Clancy) is a great ref but it was the linesman’s decision and they don’t speak to you do they. They are not interested.”

Does that sum up your day the fact that Dunfermline had good chances in either half that they did not convert?

“Their goalie has made a couple of good saves. He has done well but we should be creating more. We had a good bit of the ball in the second half. You have to take them at this level. Every goal totally changes the game and it killed us today.”

Is it so frustrating for you that Dunfermline are so stop, start at the moment?

“I have never seen at this level so many good players in one team. I have played around this league for a few years before and we have such a good squad. So many good talented players so we shouldn’t be anywhere near where we are.

“Once it turns properly. It has been a couple of wins and then a couple of defeats. We need to go on a good run, everyone else seems to have had one so we need to go on one. When we do, we will end up battering a few teams. At the minute coming here it was a good chance to get three points but we missed out.”

Is that the fear that if the longer lack of that consistently goes on you are going to end up looking behind you as opposed to chasing those above?

“No, it is not even half way through the season yet. I don’t think that we need to worry about a thing like that. We should always be looking up and want to be in the top four at least.

“At the start of the season you would have thought top two but it shows you, if you have a bad run it can kill you. If we put a good three, four or five games together over the Christmas period I think all of a sudden we would be in a great position.

“I don’t think that there is any need to worry, we have really good players like I said. Obviously it is disappointing coming here and getting beat.”

Going back to the second goal, there has been chat recently about referees and VAR possibly coming in. Is that something that you be in favour of to clear that kind of incident up?

“I just think at this level it is people’s jobs that are at stake. You have got to be totally sure. VAR is great if you have it in but it is obviously expensive. Had we been playing for thousands of pound a week but at this level on a normal wage, I just think that they need to be sure. This could lead to a few of us losing our jobs, a decision like that where he doesn’t have to give it.

“I don’t know why he has decided to do it because the lad who has watched the video still cannot see it. I was there and I thought it was never in. The way the ball has come out the goal, it has not gone that way, it has gone straight.

“If you watch it. Jacko was really close to it and he said ‘never in’. I just don’t know why they gave it. This is not the top level and getting paid proper money. People’s jobs are at stake, there is no need to give it, you have to be really sure I think.”
