Man of the Match but not happy

Sunday, 16th Dec 2012

"I would have sacrificed my goal for the three points but it wasn't to be today ...

Andy Barrowman

Andy Barrowman was still clutching the bottle prize awarded to the Man of the Match when he spoke exclusively to the website after the drawn match against Hamilton. He pointed out that he'd rather have had the three points:-

"I am delighted to get on the scoresheet again but I would have sacrificed my goal for the three points but it wasn't to be today. We will regroup and be ready to go again."

The goal was Andy's eleventh of the season but the striker agreed that he maybe should have had more:-

"I had another chance before that and should have taken a touch. I snatched at it a bit, it was an easier chance than the one I scored with. That's what happens. I was happy enough with the one I finished, there were a few boys on the line. I had a curling shot just after that that I thought was in, it just bent in too late.

"We turned Hamilton over 3-0 in the first game between us this season and they came here resolute so we needed to be better with our play in the final third and with our delivery."

Dunfermline had the majority of the second half play but Andy felt that they were vulnerable at the back as they pushed forward looking for a winner:-

"That is what happens but you definitely can't say that we didn't try. Teams are not going to come here and lie down to us. We are not going to win three or four goals to nil every week."

There was a sense of disappointment in the dressing room claimed Andy and a frustration that will not be eased until the next game which is eleven days away on Boxing Day.

"The boys are disappointed because we want to win every game. They are showing desire and attitude that bodes well for the future. We have two massive games coming up with great timing that should be good for the crowd. These are games that you want to play in as players and hopefully we can get back to back wins.

"The derby crowds lift the boys and the game that we have already played at Falkirk had a great atmosphere and the crowd really helped us get the two goals back. Hopefully they can do more of the same."
