Manager Post Livingston

Saturday, 15th Nov 2008

"We will not get carried away, we are just glad to be up near the top region and keep battling away. I thought it was a character performance today because we had two sore defeats at home.

Jim McIntyre warms up at Livingston

Jim McIntyre played down the suggestion that the substitution bringing himself on for Nick Phinn was in the inspired category:-

"I just wanted to win the game and it was a case of putting three upfront and going for it. It paid off today; sometimes it works, some times it doesn't. We merited the win today, we were the better footballing team on the day. We knocked the ball about well and got it out wide.

"It was a poor start and we conceded two really poor goals but to come back and score three goals is fantastic. It's good to see our two strikers getting the goals."

After failing to hit the net against Dundee the Pars Manager identified the lack of crosses as a major contributor to last Saturday's defeat:-

"We actually did a bit of work on that on Friday, about when it comes into certain areas and where our strikers need to be. Today they got themselves into areas and finished with aplomb."

Such success will make it harder for Jim McIntyre to get a starting place:-

"Well I am not trying to break them up, I just want to put as much pressure on people as possible. I am back fit so if I can put pressure on them to perform that's helpful."

Livingston v Dunfermline

The result keeps the pressure on St Johnstone who sit just three points above Dunfermline at the top of the league:-

"One of the boys walked in at the end and said that's a difference of seven points. St Johnstone were winning at the time we scored to go 3-2. That shows you how tight the league is. We will not get carried away, we are just glad to be up near the top region and keep battling away. I thought it was a character performance today because we had two sore defeats at home. They showed great character to come here and get three points, they deserved it as well."

Why did the referee talk to the Dunfermline bench?

"I think my tackle led to it, he just felt that I went in a wee bit high. I cleaned the ball out but obviously I left the ground. It was right in front of their dugout so they were complaining. Our dugout had backed their manager up - it was handbags and just passion for the game. That's a good thing."

Greg Shields omission was due to injury:-

"He got a really sore one yesterday and we were really worried. He got clattered by Paul Gallacher in the Young v Old that we have on a Friday. It was a sore one so Greg missed out today but I thought Scott Thomson came in and was fantastic. Special praise goes to Greg Ross as well; he has been out for two years and has only had a bit part to play in the last wee while but I thought he was excellent today."

Livingston Manager Roberto Landi said:-

"We can play but it is difficult to make the performance and try to win. In front we have strong teams St Johnstone, Dunfermline, Dundee, Queen of South, Partick. When you make the performance like today it is very very difficult to win."
