Dunfermline Athletic manager Allan Johnston

“The first half we played really well, scored two really good goals and could have been more. Robbo has a good save to be fair in the first half, I think it was a shot but then second half the6 scored the early goal. A poor goal from our point of view.

“It then gets a wee bit nervy, we changed our shape half way through the second half and it looked as though we had seen the game out. I didn’t see them scoring but to lose a goal like that in the very last minute of the game was criminal.

“It was a long free kick, they won the first header and then it is far too easy after that. We cannot allow them to get free shots at goal, so it was really disappointing from our point of view especially after playing so well specially in the first half.

“We had dominated the game, everything was good but teams are going to have spells in the game and that is when you have to make sure that you are solid and hard to beat. I thought we did enough to see the game out in the second half. Towards the end they were pushing and dangerous at setpieces. It looked as though the game was over, there wasn’t any danger and it is a killer blow when you see goals like that going in in the last few seconds of the game.

“We have to see games like that out, that cannot happen, you just cannot allow goals to go in so poorly from our point of view. We have to defend better than that. There has to be a real desire to stop shots, win headers. That is the basics and we never did that.”

The manager was not sure if it was a case of switching off.

“Maybe, obviously we lost the first one. We lost the first header, we lost the second ball and then it was far too easy. Trouten again, that is two goals that he has scored against us again. He is a real thorn in our side though we were well aware of his runs from the middle of the park. We had shown that to the boys before the game and his first goal is identical to the one he scored against us here the last time.

“It is really frustrating when you see goals like that and people not learning from mistakes.”

A positive from the manager’s point of view had to be the goal and the danger created by his on-loan player from Hearts, Aidan Keena.

“First half we were really good, Keena was good, Myles Hippolyte was good and I don’t think that there were any failures in the first half. The goal gave them a massive lift. You could see it changed the game and the boys weren’t passing it as quickly as they were in the first half but we did first half but we did more than enough to see the game out.

“It is so disappointing when we let ourselves down after putting so much into the game.”

Asked if Ryan Williamson for James Craigen was a tactical substitution?

“No, James Craigen hurt his neck in the first half and it was getting to the point where it was difficult to turn so he asked to come off.”
