23/10/10: JM - " The only pleasing thing is that we have not lost the match."

Jim McIntyre was disappointed to give away a two goal lead at Dundee:-

"I thought we were fortunate to get the first penalty. It was close and difficult to see from where we were. I don't even know if the boy's hand was out or not but he (Wullie Gibson) struck it at pace and it was a surprise to us that it was given.

"The second one was definitely a penalty and Wullie stuck it away great and what a lift that gave us. We went in 2-0 up and it was all about going on, seeing the game out and making sure that we don't give anything away.

"Our second half performance was too flat after speaking about how we hadn't started well in the first half and how we would need to make sure that we were at it from the kick off. Dundee would come down the slope as they always do and really have a go.

"It was a mistake that conceded the first goal that gave them the lift. It was a terrible goal, Chris (Higgins) has slipped and Griffiths has put it away the way he does. Then we created our own downfall again for the second one. Wee Davie (Graham) just tried to be too clever rather than putting the ball out of play and defend it. That was the galling thing - mistakes from our point of view. We have been punished both times.

"We gave away that two goal lead and I just felt that we weren't up with the pace of the game. Dundee were winning more of the second balls and getting more on top. They had their tails up and I will gladly take the point at the end.

With all the difficulties at Dundee, it could be that a difficult place to come has become an even more difficult place to visit in search of points. Macca commented:-

"That was a very strong side that Dundee had out, we will not be kidding ourselves that we should be coming up here and getting away with the points. The problem we have is that we were 2-0 up; that should have been good enough to see the game out. We never did that and credit to Dundee; the only pleasing thing is that we have not lost the match."

Dundee's Barry Smith:-

"I can't ask anymore from them than I got in the second half. It was great to see them getting back in the game and a draw. Obviously we want to win the game but they showed character to come back from two goals down. It is great from a manager's point of view."

Smith would not be drawn on commenting on Dougie McDonald's penalty decisions:-

"I am not going go on about it, the referee has made his decision, the penalty was given and they have scored. A lot of teams could have chucked it.

"We know the position that we are in and know that we have to stick together as a team unit, that is what they did today." The caretaker manager also praised the home support:-

"The crowd were brilliant today to turn out and give us the support they did. I only hope that they can come out again for our next home game."
