Managers Post Dundee

03/01/09: Macca "As a team I just felt that there was not enough quality there today in the final third. You need to be consistent and at the moment we are far from consistent."

Manager Jim McIntyre commented after losing at Dundee:-

"With the St Johnstone game being off you want to try and narrow the gap. We have failed to do that. I didn't think that there was much in the game but when we got to the final third it wasn't good enough. Our final ball was poor and we lacked the cutting edge about us today."

On the suggestion that his team ran out of ideas in the second half, Macca agreed:-

"Not enough of them took the onus on themselves to go and create. When we did get into certain areas it was powder puff. That's the way I saw it. It was just not good enough.

"When you score four goals one week and then struggle to score one the next week, that just shows you that the consistency is not there at the moment.

"We have had a couple of blows which means we have key players like Harper and Bayne missing. I am not going to make excuses. The boys who have come in are good players so they should be doing better. As a team I just felt that there was not enough quality there today in the final third. You need to be consistent and at the moment we are far from consistent."

Dundee v Dunfermline

Dundee Manager, Jocky Scott, was happy to take a happy start to 2009:-

"It was not our best performance but we dug in and it was a great finish from the free kick by Eric Paton. We worked on free kicks yesterday, but not that one! He just took it upon himself just to stick it in the net, which was good.

Rab Douglas holds a cross

"They put us under a bit of pressure but Rab (Douglas) didn't really have any saves of note to make. Although they put a lot of balls into our box, especially after we scored, McKeown and Lauchlan were different class. They handled it and defended really well.

"I was disappointed first half with the way we played. We didn't pass the ball good enough, we didn't take responsibility on the ball but the good thing was that we worked really hard. We matched them for work rate and finished with three points which is the main thing."
