Manager Allan Johnston felt that it had been a similar story for the majority of the season.

“Getting chances, not being clinical and then getting punished at the other end. First half to be fair to them, I thought they started better. They got the goal with a wee bit of luck. It was a high ball into the box, we didn’t deal with it well and then he (Blair Spittal) finished it with a good shot.

“They got a lift from that I thought. We kind of lost control for fifteen to twenty minutes then second half I thought we totally dominated again. Even saying that in the first half we still had chances as well and you need to take your chances.

“We had good opportunities, it is a hard league and when you get these chances you have got to take them. Then there was a big call for the second goal as well. That was probably the sucker blow. It must be hard for the linesman to see, I think it is impossible for him to see if it is in or not. Especially with the way Lee (Robinson) dives, he has got his body protecting where the ball is. I don’t know how he can give that.

“Usually they are pretty honest and tell you if it is or not. They were adamant that it never went over the line. It was very close and these are one of the defining moments that kill you.”

Did the linesman guess then if you say he could not see what had happened?

“Obviously he thinks that he got the decision right but you have to be 100% right. You cannot just guess, that’s the frustrating part but still even then we have got to deal with the cross better. We have to make sure that we stop the cross in the first place.

“We still have to take our chances second half as well when we pend them in. It is a frustrating one especially when you are playing against a team that is bottom of the league.”

The double substitution was made in 59th minute, at that stage did the manager feel that they could still claw back a result?

“I thought we could, I just think we needed that goal. If we had got that goal then Partick would have become really nervous, sat back and at that point it looked like we were on the ascendancy. It looked as though a goal was coming but it wasn’t to be.”
