Managers Post QOS

Tuesday, 10th Aug 2010

10/08/10: JM - "We had no tempo to our play tonight, we huffed and puffed, our passing was erratic and we started the game sloppily. That just continued on for most of the night.

201011 1ST HOME GAME

When Jim McIntyre talked about the Challenge Cup match it was clear he had seen it the same way as most of the spectators behind him:-

"It wasn't a great game in the first half, neither side played particularly well. In the second half I thought Queens dominated for the first 30 minutes in terms of possession. We had no tempo to our play tonight, we huffed and puffed, our passing was erratic and we started the game sloppily. That just continued on for most of the night.

"I felt once Joe Cardle came on that sparked us into life a bit, we got the goal and could have possibly gone on to win the game. The keeper had a couple of good saves but we didn't do enough to deserve to win.

"To come back from a goal down - the reaction was the positive from the game. It proved we can come back and get on the scoresheet ourselves. We possibly could have nicked another one.

"It wasn't the greatest of games but credit to Queens they have put away more penalties than us so they go through.

Steven McDougall was injured in the match but Macca explained that it was too early to assess it.

"We will get him in tomorrow, we will know more then. There were a couple of facial knocks but they will be fine."

Queen of the South manager Kenny Brannigan was pleased to progress to the next round:-

"We lost it for big parts of the game just because we were playing the wrong passes. When we play football we are a decent side and our keeper did well. He is a good goalkeeper and has played at the highest level.

"Dunfermline had the boys on the bench who could make a difference for them and to be fair they did - the young boy Cardle and Kirk upfront. When they came on the park they did really well. They played to their shape and stuck to their guns.

"We have won here again. I don't know what it is, maybe we feel the lucky ones to be be drawn against them but I will take that all day."
