The 1-0 defeat at home to Falkirk “probably summed up our season so far at home” claimed manager Allan Johnston.

“The chances we are missing, great opportunities and then getting punished at the other end of the pitch. They had one shot from 30 yards and it goes in. It is really frustrating but at the end of the day we have got to be clinical.

“You are never going to get better chances than we got today. You are never going to get a better chance of winning because we were by far the better team but at the end of the day it is results (that matter).”

Andy Ryan missed what some would put in the ‘absolute sitter’ category within 40 seconds of the kick off and the manager felt that his striker had two early chances where it had to be a goal:-

“It continued throughout the whole match. Even when you create that many chances, it is about getting it over the line. We have managed to do that for some reason away from home, I don’t know why we cannot at home. It seems to be some sort of problem that they are not going in the net for one reason or another. We just need to make sure that we turn that home form around.”

While it remained 0-0 and the chances were not going in, Dunfermline were always vulnerable to a strike on the counter and the manager acknowledged that Falkirk were always likely to pose a threat at some point:-

“It is typical football when you are that much on top that teams are always going to get that one opportunity. You wouldnt even have said that it was a good opportunity, he has hit it from 30 yards and it was a great finish.

“Whether we could have done better? That is another thing that we will have to look at. Overall we were by far the better team but at the end of the day it should have been three points. We should be keeping in touch with the teams up above us, so it is a massive three points dropped and a disappointing one especially when we have so many fans at the game.”

An injury to on loan striker Aidan Keena meant that he had to be subbed ten minutes before half time. The manager added:-

“He is fine, he just got a dead leg in a collision in the first half. The thing is there were a lot of good performances there today. You couldn’t fault the boys for their effort, it is maybe that wee bit of quality that we need in the final third.

“The boys cannot believe that they didn’t get anything out of the game. It has happened too many times this season, especially at home. We have put in performances like that and not got the results. That is the frustrating part and the part that only us can fix.”

With two weeks until the next match AJ described the plans up until the away game at Dingwall:-

“We will be in Monday and Tuesday as normal. Take a couple of days off and then back to it again. Hopefully we will be refreshed and ready to go for a hard trip to Ross County.

“We will need to do a lot of shooting. Their keeper had a couple of good saves today but there should be goals. We had opportunities in great areas. We have to finish teams off, we have to be more clinical that is the disappointing part.”
