Manager Stevie Crawford praised Matty’s performance:-
“I thought he was terrific. It’s been a hard year for Matty as he’s come up from down south and he’s had to be patient. Going forward he put in some great deliveries and it was great that he managed to make a winning debut.”
The Yorkshire youngster joined the Pars on a two year deal at the end of May 2019.
Matthew was part of Middlesbrough and Hull City’s youth academy, but left Hull City at his own request to accept a two year bursary award offered to him by Repton School in Derbyshire, which allowed him to complete his A levels and be involved in their excellent football programme.
He was a star performer in the English Independent Schools Team, which is a very accomplished group of players for their age. He captained his age group.
Matty went out on loan on 31 January to Northern Premier club Pickering Town until the end of the 2019-2020 season.
