Dunfermline Athletic

Pars first for Loanly Heart

Saturday, 6th Aug 2011

"I know it is early on in the season but these are games you want to be taking all three points from.

Jason Thomson

Jason Thomson desperately wants to see the Pars improve on their league performance against St Mirren:-

"We weren't up to standard, we were a wee bit better in the second half and although we were lucky with the penalty save, we came away with a draw and a clean sheet. Having had the game at Annan last Saturday the boys played a bit better and with a lot more confidence, hopefully we can take that into Saturday against Inverness. We had a few chances against Annan at 1-0 and if we had taken those chances it would have killed the game. The goal gave them a wee lift but we got the result in the end and are in the next round."

Back to the SPL Jason is as keen as anyone for Dunfermline to get their first win:-

"I know it is early on in the season but these are games you want to be taking all three points from. Inverness could be a team that is down that end of the league come the end of the season, so we must take points when we can.

"Inverness did well last season; they lost Adam Rooney who was top goalscorer and they are trying to improve their squad. Bar a couple of teams the league is a tight league and every game is going to be tight.

"There are a few people writing us off; it doesn't bother us in the slightest. If we can play the way we know we can, we will do well."

Jason Thomson v Annan Athletic

In a week that has seen turmoil in the management team at his club Jason was as surprised as everyone. Craig Levein was the manager of Hearts when Jason joined Hearts so he was there in the pre Romanov era. With Jim Jefferies departure he summed it up:-

"That's football. You get shocks in football but you get more than your fair share of them at Hearts."

But for Jason its life as normal:-

"It's just like any other job, if your boss leaves another boss comes in. and you just need to take it from there. Some boys are probably happy now because they might play more. It is a fresh start for the whole team."

How does that affect a player like Jason who is out on loan at Dunfermline?

"I am here at Dunfermline and that is my first focus to help Dunfermline stay in the league. I want to play as much as I can. My contract at Hearts is up at the end of the season so I will just have to wait and see what happens.

"I am signed here until 1st January and I cannot do anything to affect what's going on at Hearts while I am here."

The 24 year old confessed that he would be happy if his stay at Dunfermline was extended:-

"I do not want to got back to Hearts just to sit on the bench again. The Manager has said here that I am first choice right back and depending on how I play I will keep the position."
