Rory Loy Post Partick

"I was actually pleased with the finish. Some players might have held their head in their hands but I kept it alive and put it in so I was delighted."

The red numbers on the black and white shirts troubled the Firhill Press box so much that they thought it had been Andy Kirk and not Rory Loy who had put the spot kick away to seal all three points for Jim McIntyre's side. Television, radio and the west coast based media found it hard to differentiate between the Pars players so it was with a certain degree of relief that the Pars Press Officer, Stuart Arnott was able to change their initial request to interview "two goal hero Kirk" to introduce them to the real hero.

Rory Loy enjoyed his week away with the Scottish under 21 squad, classing it and honour and feeling good about scoring for them as well. The week was crowned by clinching the winning goal for Dunfermline at Firhill:-

"Some people saw this as a six pointer so to get all three points as it was, was brilliant."

The 20 year old who is on loan from Glasgow Rangers had no qualms about taking responsibility for the spot kick

"Of course not, I'm a striker. My job's to score goals and do well for the team. As soon as we won the penalty I had no hesitation at stepping up to take it. As soon as I got the ball I looked at Andy Kirk who was the main striker upfront and he gave me the nod to take it. So I was more than happy to take it.

"If you score, you score. At the end of the day we got the three points whether it goes into the top corner from the first one or you sclaffe it in the bottom corner it doesn't matter, you have the three points.

"I was actually pleased with the finish. Some players might have held their head in their hands but I kept it alive and put it in so I was delighted."

Rory was uncertain about the reason he started on the bench at Firhill:-

"I don't know, you'd need to ask the Manager that, I am just happy to be involved with Dunfermline first team and I will give 100% whether I am on the bench and coming on or whether I am starting.

"It was a big game but I felt that we were by far and away the better team although Partick Thistle did create some dangerous moments from setpieces. We played a lot more football than them I thought. The Manager is going to get frustrated if your team is missing chances because if you are creating them and you lose the game it is disappointing. Whereas if you don't play so well and lose the game then fair enough. I'm sure he was delighted in the end."

Steven Bell is brought down for 88th minute penalty

Rory described the lead up to the penalty:-

"I was running through and I saw Belly behind me. There was a man running with me but there wasn't a man running with him so I stepped over it. The guy running with him was behind him, rather than in front of him, so he made a last ditch attempt to try and get the ball and missed it and got Belly.

Rory also commented on the defensive mistake that put him in with a chance to finish the game long before the penalty was awarded:-

"My thinking there was the guy was coming across at some speed and I thought if I could just knock it inside it would make the finish a lot simpler for me and I could just roll it in the corner whereas if I shot first time there was a defender there to block it and obviously the keeper to get by as well. The defender wasn't running as quickly as I thought he was and he managed to get a toe on the end of it. It was a great tackle from their point of view."
