Season Faissals out

Saturday, 30th Apr 2016

Faissal El Bakhtaoui described the final match of the season as amazing:-

"I was on the bench and the fans were calling my name. I wanted to start but the manager made the decision to put me on the bench. It was a big crowd for me and the fans were singing my song. It was a massive day for me."

The 6000 plus Pars fans had turned out to celebrate the league championship win and they made it known that they, like Faiss, were disappointed that they were only given a last fifteen minutes glimpse of the player whose 22 league goals had contributed so much to that title win:-

"I wanted to play 100% and I do not know why the manager did not start me. I was not happy but I have to listen to what the manager says. I came on off the bench."

Faiss' family had flown from the South of France to see him play professional football for the first time, he added:-

"My family had never seen me play football. Just my brother but for my sister it was the first time. I came on for fifteen minutes but I did not touch the ball much."

The French Moroccan was disappointed that he did not get much time to try and claim the crown as League One's leading goalscorer:- "I wanted to try and be top goalscorer."

It is hard for any Pars fan to recall any such reception for a substitute coming on. The stadium was on its feet as Faiss replaced Ryan Wallace in 77 minutes. He described the feeling:-

"It was just unbelievable for me, I will never forget this day. The manager didn't give me enough time and I was not happy. I don't know if I will be here next season I will need to see what my agent who is looking after me, says. He will see what is the best for me to do."

Reflecting on happier days Faiss singled out his goal at Ayr as his best of the season and praised his team mates for their help both on and off the park:-

"It has been a great season, all the boys in the changing room and the fans have been unbelievable."
