Dunfermline Athletic

Second Leg for Josh

Friday, 9th May 2014

"It is only half time and we will make sure that we go, be confident and make sure that we turn it around on Saturday at East End Park."

Josh Falkingham

Josh Falkingham can't wait for Saturday but after taking an injury at Stranraer a second leg is just what he needs in that push to reach the Championship play off final:-

"We knew that it was always going to be tight going down to Stranraer, it is a tough place to go and we are just disappointed that we didn't do well in the end. We didn't start too well, they got their goal and that gave them a lift but then after about thirty minutes we settled down and managed to nick a goal, probably against the run of play."

Back on level terms Dunfermline looked to be back on track. They survived a Stranraer onslaught at the beginning of the second half and exerted pressure on the opposition goal that really should have resulted in another Pars goal. Josh described how he saw it:-

"After drawing level I felt we dominated the game right up until the sending off. Unfortunately that turned the game back in their favour and we were dying to hold out until the end. It was disappointing that they scored a second goal but one thing is that we are definitely not out of this. We are still in there with a great chance.

"It is only half time and we will make sure that we go and be confident, like we have always been and make sure that we turn it around on Saturday at East End Park."

If Saturday's type of match is a repeat of the first we can expect another slick match played at a frantic pace, Josh said "that is what you get with play offs.

"That is the standard for play off games but sometimes you don't get it as frenetic in the first leg but I felt that both sides have shown all season that they go out to win games. That is why it was frenetic at times, good for a neutral to watch but all I can say is that we are disappointed but we know what we have to do know. We have to win the game on Saturday."

Despite coming off with a calf injury Josh is confident that his leg will be fit for the second leg:-

"It is just a knock, a bang on the leg. It is not a pull or a strain or anything like that. Fingers crossed I will be okay and you do not want to miss these sort of games at all and especially the one on Saturday.

"A big home support can make a massive difference now; they can pull us through, they have all season and we need all the fans that we can get. It will be more of a help for us. We will be dying for the fans to come out and support us even more so in a big game like it is now."

Josh compared the Stranraer experience like his play off as an Arbroath player when they went to Dumbarton and lost the 2011-2012 Scottish First Division semi final first leg.

""We got beat 2-1, so I have been in this situation before and unfortunately I never got through it the first time but I will trying my hardest, as will the team, to do our best. The fans deserve it; we will try and correct the scoreline and get in that final."
