Dunfermline Athletic

Shiels joins The Pars

Monday, 17th Jul 2017

Dunfermline Athletic are delighted to announce the signing of Dean Shiels on a contract until May 2018.

Shiels began his career with Arsenal as a youth from 2001-04 before making his name with Hibernian, scoring 24 goals in 117 appearances for the Hibees over five seasons. The Northern Ireland international then moved to Doncaster Rovers in 2009.

After three seasons at Doncaster Rovers and a spell with Kilmarnock, Shiels made his move to Rangers in 2012 and earned a call-up back to the Northern Ireland national team that year, scoring his first international goal in a 1-1 draw against Luxembourg. Shiels has made a total of 14 appearances for his country from 2005-12, scoring one goal.

Subject to international clearance. Dean will join the rest of the squad today (Monday).

We welcome Dean to East End Park and further reaction from Dean and manager, Allan Johnston will follow later this week.
