Stephen Glass Post Morton

Sunday, 23rd Nov 2008

"You can see the lads are trying to do well out there, but if we don't start well enough and give them something to hang on to, then their game plan still works.

Stephen Glass was uncertain why his 54th minute strike was disallowed by referee Mike McCurry.

"I think he thought that I went shoulder to shoulder with the guy.The guy did not see me so he was in a weak position. You don't like being caught out like that but I don't think it makes a foul. The ref thought different so you just have to crack on.

"If the lad had seen me he could probably have blocked me off and got a foul deservedly."

The Pars stand in captain would not be drawn into criticism of the match referee. Restricting his response "it is about opinions. In my opinion the referee made a mistake, every Morton person thinks he never made a mistake, the referee doesn't as well."

"Everybody wants the best for their team. Referees have a hard job and I am not going to stand and criticise them."

"It is disappointing because I think we had the bulk of the play in the second half.We need to be a bit more creative with the possession that we have.We probably never cut them open as much as we would have liked.

They sat in looking to hang on to the goal they scored in the first half which is their right. They did well to retain it, so its back to the drawing board for us."

Commenting on Eric Paartalu's goal, Stephen Glass added:

"I never really got close enough to the guy. Steven Bell blocked it and it fell between Belly and the guy. He took a touch past me so I couldn't really tackle since the referee had pulled me up for a foul not long before that. I probably should have fouled him but you don't expect him to drill it in like that. I wouldn't say I got brushed off, if I had gone in stronger for it I might have got brushed off, but I wasn't really involved in a tackle for it as such.

"We have been poor at home, we know that. You can see the lads are trying to do well out there, but if we don't start well enough and give them something to hang on to, then their game plan still works.

"If we can score early then it's a different game, they would maybe need to come out. That's our own fault for not scoring a goal and not dominating the play early on.

"The first goal is going to be very important, teams coming here know that."
