Striking for and against

Robert Thomson has now scored for both Dunfermline and Brechin City this season

Robert Thomson

Robert Thomson played nine matches for Dunfermline earlier this season between August and November but since joining Brechin City in the January transfer window he has now scored for both clubs. He told the website:-

"The game went the same way as it has been going for us in recent weeks. I think our play in the last couple of games has merited more out of the games and it was unfortunate because we got chances.

"I was delighted to get my goal and then I had another chance right after that which I hit straight at Scully. If I had put it anywhere else or sclaffed it I think it would have gone in the net."

Robert scored for the Pars in their 1-1 draw at Glebe Park in September but has scored five goals now in his nine matches for Brechin including the equaliser at East End Park on Saturday. Had the 20 year old striker any disappointment with his Dunfermline experience?

"No. To be fair I was given the chance when I first came in. I started a lot of games and only scored one which wasn't good enough. I felt that I was performing well and I know myself that I will score. I probably should have scored more but I can't complain about not getting the chance.

"At Brechin I am enjoying it and since he brought me in the manager has been positive. He says to go and express myself, get goals and get games. That is what I have been doing so far. Hopefully I can keep that going to the end of the season but the results have not really gone in our favour today. Hopefully I can help the team out by getting goals and picking up a few more points by the end of the season."

The defeat leaves Brechin on 34 points, just two off the play off place. Robert added:-

"Every game is vital now especially with East Fife beating Dunfermline last week. They won again today so that makes them one point behind us and Airdrie drew so they are level with us. So every game is very important and we have still to play them."
