Too Many Cooks!

Wednesday, 6th Jul 2016

But definitely not too many to spoil the new publication from the Dunfermline Athletic Heritage Trust.

Entitled Full Time, the Trust searched far and wide to bring together a collection of Pars recipes for fans and the public alike, and the new cookbook will be launched at the DAFC Open Day at the Glen Pavilion on Sunday.

Ring-bound and produced in full glossy colour, it’s a fascinating insight into what pleases the appetites of a wide range of people from Board members, to current and former players and managers, to ordinary fans. As you’ll see, the recipes are a delicious and wide-ranging concoction indeed – from Sir Alex Ferguson’s Grilled Sea Bass to Marvyn Stewart’s Fife Miners’ Soup and from Westy’s Macaroni Cheese to Bob Garmory’s Bread and Batter Pudding. But there’s no doubting the international flavour with favourite recipes generously provided by the likes of Marco Ruitenbeek (Holland), Andrius Skerla (Lithuania), Istvan Kozma (Hungary), Faissal El Bakhtaoui (Morocco) and Eddie Connachan (South Africa).

Chairman of the Heritage Trust, Duncan Simpson, said, “I can’t remember how this Cookbook idea came about but almost certainly from the creative mind of one of our Trustees, Kenny McLachlan. It seemed like a good idea at the time but required a huge effort in organisation and coordination not only to make contact with people who are now based all over the globe, but to then get them to agree to provide their favourite recipe. We’re not pretending to be gourmet cooks, and nor are we saying that every dish will be amazing – but a lot of fun, yes! The whole point of it all is to raise funds for the Heritage Trust, which is a registered charity, so that we can improve the way that we bring the Football Club heritage to fans and the public alike, so we’re hoping that it’s going to be a sell-out.”

Prize For Ordering Early
To encourage fans to buy the book, the Trust has put up a prize for those who buy early, thanks to support from the Garvock House Hotel and Coop Funeralcare. All those that pre-order and pay for the book online before Saturday at 3.00pm, and all those that come along and purchase a copy at the Open Day on Sunday before 300pm will be entered into the prize draw, and a nice prize it is at that!

The winners will receive a £50 voucher for a meal at the Garvock House Hotel, and in addition, will be picked up at their home by limousine and taken to the hotel and returned home afterwards. Please note that the voucher does not include drinks and the limousine will pick anywhere within a 15 miles radius of the Garvock House Hotel, but not beyond.

Ordering
We think that this book is going to prove very popular with fans, so if you want to make sure that you get your copy, you can pre-order by sending an email today to enquiries@daht.org.uk

Please provide your name and an indication as to whether you would like to have the book posted to your home or whether you will collect at the Open Day. If you need it to be posted there will be a charge for postage. Payment can be made online for those not attending in person and details will be sent on request. Please note that online payment must be received by midnight on Sunday 10th July 2016 to be included in the prize draw.

Alternately, turn up at the Heritage Trust stall at the Open Day and just buy a copy – if there are any left! Those who do come in person will have the opportunity to have their copy signed by some of the those providing the recipes, and that will include our ‘Cover Boys’ Roy Barry and Ian Westwater!

Full Time goes on sale on Sunday at the Open Day, priced £10.00
