Dunfermline U19s faced Alloa Athletic U19s on the fieldturf at Kinross Community High School on Sunday and having come back from a goal down went 2-1 up but failed to hold on.

The weather made it a fairly wretched afternoon for classy football but the teams served up four goals nevertheless. Alloa went ahead in seven minutes when a throw in teed up Greig SMITH on the left side of the Pars box and he turned and hit a low dipping shot to beat Sommerville from 15 yards.

Two minutes later the visitors should have made it 2-0. Kenny O`Brien run down the left brushed off Blair McWhirter and his subsequent cross fell nicely for Stephen Old but the Alloa no.7 smashed the chance over the crossbar.

Dunfermline rallied and Shaun Byrne was unlucky to be squeezed out after Fraser Moncrieff had made headway down the left.  Kerr Young headed wide at a corner and Steven Leslie had a shot that was held by keeper Mikey Colber. In 27 minutes John MacDonald swung over a ball that Leslie came close to converting but the Pars duly got the equaliser they deserved three minutes later when Conor SCHIAVONE rose to meet a McWhirter cross and with bravery header past the advancing Colber.

Two minutes later the Pars had a good chance to take the lead but MacDonald`s cross evaded Lesie on its way across the face of goal and Moncrieff wellied his shot wildly out of the ground.  Alloa were restricted to long distance efforts fom Rendall and McCoughie although the first one in 34 minutes was only just tipped over the bar by Sommerville.

Half Time at Kinross

Apart from a powerful MacDonald shot the early stages of the second half were all Alloa`s.  Rendall pumped over a free kick from the left that was headed away for a corner and from that Murphy headed on target but McWhirter was on the left goalpost to clear. Then in 56 minutes a Schiavone corner from the right was headed in by Steven LESLIE for Dunfermline to go ahead.

Steven Leslie makes it 2-1

The home side then had chances to finish the contest. Schiavone had had been switched to wide left after Henderson`s introduction sent over an inviting cross and followed that with a run where he cut in and executed a shoit that was beaten away for a corner. In 68 minutes Leslie burst through on the right side of the Alloa penalty box but with three team mates racing in for the cut back he chose to shoot and that went wide left.

The 76 minute changed the outcome of the game.  Young was yellow carded for crudely ending the progress of McCaughie 20 yards out.  A six man defensive wall was assembled as it looked like left back Rendall was going to try and power a shot in target.  Instead O`BRIEN peeled off to the left, collected the pass and stuck the ball in the net from an angle that gave Sommerville little chance. 2-2.

Alloa finished the stronger.  Substitute Ben Anthony hit the post with his shot from the right and low down at the base Sommerville turned a good effort around his right hand post. In the 94th minute Anthony had a great opportunity to snatch a winner as he met Smith`s cross from the left but he headed wide and Dunfermline took the draw.
