Sunday, 22nd Feb 2009

Four different goalscorers as young Pars record good result over Morton.

DUNFERMLINE 4 MORTON 2
Conner SCHIVONE latched on to a Jordan White flick on to fire the Pars into a 38 second lead in this SFL U19 match played at Dalgety Bay on Sunday afternoon. Dunfermline looked the better team throughout the first half with the few Morton chances being launched over the cross bar by Gordon and McLean.

The visitor`s keeper Kieran Cannon did well to stop a Lewis Turner shot in 29 minutes after White had set him up nicely. Then next a minute MacDonald was the recipient of White`s sweeping pass up the right but Schivone was crowded out by his defender to prevent him adding to his tally from the cross.

Lawrie Cannon headed a Turner corner wide and it looked like there would be only one goal in it at the break. In 42 minutes however Turner`s cut back to Graham was sent over the defenders in the centre of the box for MACDONALD to arrive and hit the net with a low shot from an acute angle.

Morton reduced the deficit with a goal just 37 seconds into the second half. Dale Sloan tipped the ball square for Liam McLEAN to slot in from the edge of the box. On the hour the same pairing with a similar move produced the equaliser with McLEAN finding the net just inside the right post.

McLean might have put another one in at that post eight minutes later but his effort from a free kick 25 yards out was touched away by the outstretched left hand of keeper Craig Bald.

In 73 minutes Dunfermline regained the lead when a Harry McGregor cross from the left went over White, bounced deceiving the central defenders to allow Ryan THOMSON to smash the ball home from just outside the six yard box.

Thomson rattled the right upright with a 25 yard effort but Dunfermline were to put the game without doubt with a fourth goal seven minutes from time. Sub Chris Lennon`s ball whipped over from the left saw WHITE dive in ahead of Paddy O`Keith to glance the ball into the Morton net.

Jordan Whyte scores no.4
