Work in progress

SC: “I can’t guarantee that we’ll get another one or two signings over the line but we’re very much working on things to see if there’s anything out there to allow us to get stronger.

Although players who are free agents can still move after the transfer window slams shut at midnight (12am) on 1st February, Stevie Crawford this afternoon did not totally rule out more activity before Monday. He said:-

“I know we’re getting towards the end of the month but we’ll continue to work away behind the scenes. I can’t guarantee that we’ll get another one or two signings over the line but we’re very much working on things to see if there’s anything out there to allow us to get stronger.

“We’ve added two quality players to the squad in Kyle Macdonald and Scott Banks and I’m always conscious of trying to bring in players who are going to make us better or give us the opportunity to get better, not just as individuals but as a group. I think the two of them will add that.”

Nineteen year old Scott Banks arrived on loan on Monday morning and the manager described his first impressions after two days in training:-

“He is a bubbly character, he is very attack minded. He can play in off the striker, he can play on both flanks and he can deal with the ball. He is not afraid to take people on. He is creative and we are thankful to Crystal Palace first and foremost that they have taken us in their trust that we are going to look after their player.

“Equally it was great that Scott wanted to come to the club. We had watched him a few years ago, he caught my eye playing for Clyde in a play off game against Annan and we have followed his progress since then. It is exciting that we have managed to bring in an addition like that to the squad and add to the quality that we have already got.”

Crystal Palace fans have been wanting to see the former Dundee United youth in their Premiership squad, so to have him in the Scottish Championship is surely a bit of a coup for the club, Stevie continued:-

“I think it speaks volumes. I know that the club has worked extremely hard to get this one over the line. I think it says a lot about Scott as well, he had a successful loan period out at Clyde. He then moved on to Crystal Palace last January and before the pandemic hit us he had a short spell at Alloa.

“I know talking to him that having had a taste of first team football that has whetted his appetite and he very much wants to kick on, play and be involved around a first team environment. We are lucky that we are going to benefit from that. He has shown already in the early parts of the week that he is going to bring something to the table for us.”
