Macca nets his keeper

Jim McIntyre paraded his new keeper to the media on Thursday and was obviously delighted with his acquisition:-

"He is a quality goalkeeper, he's got very good experience. He has been at some quality clubs. Anybody who has been 8 years at Everton is a good goalkeeper. It was important that we added a goalkeeper after we had the news of Paul being out for the season.

"The fact that I brought in Iain is that we needed another goalkeeper and we have two goalkeepers fighting for the one position which you want to have in every position on the park. So the two of them will do battle for the jersey."

The gaffer explained how Iain had been unfortunate to lose his place at Preston after sustaining an injury in November.

" He played every game and then he had a broken toe, came back probably too soon as it turned out so they had to sign another goalie and that goalkeeper has kept his place. That is just the way it is in football. The opportunity came up to get him on loan and we are delighted to have him."

Iain Turner

Macca feels that Turner will be hungry considering that he went down South and didn't have as many games as he would have hoped.:-

"I think every player should be hungry and he certainly looks that way in his first couple of days here. He's keen to get going and keen to make a mark."

Another new face at Pitreavie this week has been the former Dundee United midfielder Mark Kerr. The Manager explained that the 29 year old who also played at Falkirk and Aberdeen was in to do a couple of days training with him after leaving Asteras Tripolis:-

"We go back a long way but I am sure there will be a few clubs looking at him" added Macca who confessed he would be interested in him.

"I would take Mark Kerr in a minute. He is a quality player and he has been very successful in Scotland. He has just came back from Greece and we have offered him training facilities here."
