Bak with a bang

Thursday, 26th Jul 2018

Faissal El Bakhtaoui made a stunning comeback to the club he left in April two years ago.

The French-Moroccan striker who along with his fellow loanee James Vincent was ineligible to play against his parent club, Dundee on Sunday, recovered from a calf injury to score twice in his 45 minute stint against Brechin City on Wednesday night. He told the website:-

“I am happy to start my first game and happy to get two goals as well. I was fit for Sunday but I am not allowed to play against Dundee.”

It took Faiss just 15 minutes to find the net although two other newcomers Danny Devine and Louis Longridge had already shown him the route.

El Bakhtaoui was denied by keeper Conor Brennan in 13 minutes when he got in close to shoot but two minutes later the Irish keeper could do little to keep out a crisp EL Bakhtaoui strike after a slick interchange with Myles Hippolyte on the edge of the box. The goal scorer said:-

“I am happy to get the goals and want to do the best I can do. I am working hard for the team, to make sure that we all play together. I think we are looking good, we started well against Brechin and we are looking forward to facing Stirling at home now.”

The second of his two goals in his first game back was a disaster for the home side. Jordan Tapping’s pass back was light, keeper Brennan came out but with speed that no doubt surprised the keeper Faiss charged down the ball and was left to walk the ball into an empty net for a four goal first half lead.

Only Ryan Williamson, Lewis Martin and Sean Murdoch remain from Faiss’ previous time at East End Park. Now with different players around him he is again impressed by the skills of his team mates:-

“The guys have been unbelievable in training. We have good players and we look good in games and in training as well. We just need to work hard and to be all together. Against Brechin was the first time I played with the boys, I think we got on really good.”

What was very apparent on Wednesday night was that Faissal El Bakhtaoui is really good for the Pars fans, he finished:-

“The fans are unbelievable for me, they are great fans and I am looking to work hard for them and for the club to try to go up this year.”
