"I heard St Mirren finished 1-1; the disappointment was there to be seen....... For all that we have taken a point it felt like a defeat."

The scorer of Dunfermline's first SPL goal of 2007 was delighted to have broken the string of ducks:-

"I have been through some barren patches in my career but it is worse when you are sitting bottom of the league. They made me wait a while to get the ball as well but I just tried to focus. The ball had disappeared into the crowd somewhere but I managed to stick it away and homefully that is the barren spell ended.

"Wee Adam (Hammill) said 'can I get the ball off you' but that just shows the youthfulness and the freshness that he has brought to us but I was confident enough to stick it away. I have waited too long for that so there was no way he was getting that ball.

"Going a goal down in the first half and then there were a few sort of half chances; Simmy had one in the first half and Alan Combe has done well to block him. Without any clear cut chances it was a great way to get right back into the game at the end of the first half.

"With them going down to ten men, not that we are going to get any presents in the second half, we got a great lift to go on when we equalised and hopefully come out and get at them in the second half.  It was disappointing that we did not create enough clear cut chances in the second half to get that second goal."

One of the better chances came in 61 minutes when Stevie cut back from the right byeline but it fell to a defender and maybe that was unlucky:-

"The big man scored against Hearts the other week and he has been outstanding for us all season; it probably wasn't the right person for it to fall to but we need to create more chances to score goals.

"Credit to Kilmarnock, Jim Jeffries probably used all his experience to shape them up 4-4-1 in the second half. We were getting a bit of joy down the sides with Adam and Jim but he set out his stall to stop us getting down the sides to get crosses in.

"I heard St Mirren finished 1-1; the disappointment was there to be seen - the Manager could see that in the dressing room after the game.  For all that we have taken a point it felt like a defeat."
