James McPake claims a great bonus delighted that two loan deals are now confirmed

The club received confirmation today that Chris Mochrie will remain on loan to Dunfermline Athletic until the end of the 2022-2023 season. Chris has made 15 starts and four sub appearances since arriving on loan from Dundee United on 5th August 2022. He made his debut as a sub against FC Edinburgh the following day and made his starting debut in the home match v Airdrieonians on 27 August. Chris has scored two goals, one on his debut and the other at Peterhead in November.

The nineteen year old is an attacking midfielder and he is a product of the Dundee United youth system. He started off at Logie Harp Boys Club and while attending the Scottish FA Performance School programme at St John`s High School, Chris gained recognition while playing for United`s U18 squad. He has represented Scotland at U16 level in the Victory Shield and subsequently at U18, U19 and U21 levels.

Chris debuted as a substitute in the Championship at the age of 16 years and 27 days. At that time he was the youngest ever footballer to play for United`s first team but since Rory Macleod has set a new record 21 days younger.

News of Chris’s extension comes on the back of Kane Ritchie-Hosler’s extension last Friday. James McPake commented on both players:-

“We are delighted. Kane when he came in, he came on against Peterhead and then he was in and out the team a wee bit. He has shown exactly what he can do - certain games he starts, other games depending on our set up and what way we are going to go, it might be more fitting to another midfielder. I must say that he is excellent to work with, a great kid. His attitude is spot on and you can see why he has been at Manchester City and Rangers. I’m delighted to keep him here.

“Chris Mochrie is staying, we have had confirmation from Dundee United. That’s a bonus so we are delighted about that. So we are delighted to keep the two of them and we are working on the other two as well.”

Unfortunately due to being cup tied at their parent clubs, neither can play in the SPFL Trust Trophy Quarter Final versus Dundee. Robbie Mahon misses out for the same reason and Sam Fisher cannot play against his own club but will also serve a one match suspension.
