DAFC Centenary Club announce rebrand revised beneficiary and new member benefits
Saturday, 29th Oct 2022The DAFC Centenary Club Lifeline is delighted to announce that they have undertaken a significant rebrand and re-focusing of donations towards the DAFC Youth Academy.
In addition, with the support of the Club, the member benefits package has been increased to offer further value.
Background
There are many things we are proud of at Dunfermline Athletic Football Club. One of these is the Centenary Club (CC), formed in 1985. The Centenary Club was established during a difficult period for the football club and much needed funds provided by fans were of a huge benefit to keeping the club solvent. This support has continued to the present day and has continued to ensure a close alignment between the club and our fans.
2013 was perhaps one of the most challenging periods in the club’s history. Financial difficulties meant that DAFC entered into administration. The supporters once again rallied to save the club by effectively buying DAFC. The Centenary Club was re-launched as the “Lifeline” which was an accurate description of what the CC represented for Dunfermline Athletic FC.
The response by the fans was again superb with membership reaching 1,000 members each paying £20 per month. From 2013 till today, the Lifeline has raised a total of £1.8M. There is no doubt this effort has been hugely valuable to the club during these post administration years.
Re-brand and new beneficiary: The Centenary Club: Our Club Our Future
The fairly recent investment from DAFC Fussball GMBH brings a degree of stability to the club’s financial base. It means that the term “Lifeline” is now perhaps less appropriate.
As the club evolves, it is important that the Centenary Club does too. Therefore, the Centenary Club is being re-launched reverting to its original name, The Centenary Club, but with a wholly new focus on supporting the clubs youth football initiatives via the DAFC Youth Academy.
New Look Benefits Package
In the new look Centenary Club, members will benefit from a host of further benefits that include:
- Enhanced prize draws to include boardroom access for games at East End Park and unique signed items along with the existing cash prize draws
- A regular e-newsletter with exclusive interviews, content and competitions
- Exclusive offers from the club including regular discounts at the Pars Shop
- The creation of a Centenary Club annual fans forum with access to players, manager, chairman and other key members of DAFC staff
- Two further exclusive events per season for Centenary Club members featuring players and/or club legends
- Further benefits to be offered as they become available
The Centenary Club Chairman, Ross Lindsay, noted:-
“This opportunity to closely support our new Academy is the foundation on which our football club is being built and developed going forward. There is nothing better than to see young players coming through the ranks and breaking into the first team.
“We feel this is a really strong beneficiary for our member donations as we move in to a new era at the club. We hope that the Centenary Club members will also get the chance to reap some further benefits and to attend exclusive events linked to our youth development programme.”
David Cook, the Chairman and CEO of the Pars added:-
“The Centenary Club members have made a tremendous contribution to the club over the years – particularly at times when we have needed it the most. Following the decision to move away from Fife Elite and develop our own youth academy, this will mean a substantial investment is required seasonally to ensure we deliver a coaching programme that we are all proud of.
“Developing local talent is a key objective for the club but also a very emotive topic for our supporters, so we felt that this would be the perfect beneficiary for Centenary Club donations. In addition, we want to extend out the range of benefits on offer to the members in recognition of the huge financial commitment that they continue to make.”
