Pars manager complimented his players after scoring four goals for the first time ever at The Falkirk Stadium in a resounding win over the old rivals:-

“Scoring four goals gives them a lot of confidence, it has been coming because we have had a lot of chances in recent games but not managed to take them. It is great when you put in a performance like that, especially away from home with a big following here today.

“It was a good performance in such a big game after losing an early goal that could quite easily have affected the players. They showed a bit of character to come back and I thought they won it quite comfortably.

“They responded the right way and showed quality at times. I am delighted for guys like Tom Beadling - he has struggled with injuries since the start of the season and has been really unfortunate and I’m sure that will do his confidence a world of good.

“Joe Thomson is another one, he just became a father the other day but he was desperate to play. He has not had a lot of sleep and you could see that in the last couple of minutes when he took cramp as well. I am delighted for him to put in such a good performance but there were no failures today.

“I thought that it was a really good team performance, we worked really hard and we got our rewards.”

The manager was crying out for goalscorers in recent weeks but he got three different ones as the team broke its three match goals famine.

“It is always good that you are getting goals from midfield as well. You cannot always rely on the strikers scoring goals so it is good to see them chipping in. It has been coming for a few weeks. We have had opportunities but the difference when you are clinical you take your chances.

“In a lot of games like that this season we have dominated and not scored. Hopefully that is the sign of things to come. I thought the backing today was brilliant, the fans got right behind the players but we need to show that quality week after week and starting catching the teams in the top four.”

Faissal El Bakhtaoui dropped out of the starting eleven but Myles Hippolyte came in and scored the Pars opening goal in 13th minute. The former Falkirk player caused his old team all sorts of problems.

“With his strength and his pace he could possible have scored a couple more. I am delighted for him, he was a real thorn in their side for the whole match. I think he set a standard now for himself. He has to produce that week after week, that consistency and it is good when you have players like that who can come in.”

Can the team do it all again next Saturday at home to Alloa Athletic?

“That is what we are hoping, that is the hard part and that is what we have struggled with this year, that wee bit of consistency. Alloa got a good result themselves so it is not going to be an easy game.

“If we play like that and show consistency week after week then we will quickly work our way up the table.”

Asked what his thoughts were when the first goal went in just 95 seconds into the match, AJ replied:-

“I never even saw it to be honest with you. I am not going to lie, I just heard to roar and thought ‘oh no’ but I think we had a lot of opportunities in the first half. We got in really good areas and could maybe have done a wee bit better just with our pace and strength upfront that caused them all sorts of problems.

“As I said it is great to score so many goals especially away from home.”
